One county office covers most towns
Randolph County Building Inspections issues permits and inspects in the unincorporated county and also for Archdale, Franklinville, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley and Trinity. In those towns you typically need the town’s zoning permit first. Archdale, for example, requires a zoning permit for accessory structures such as sheds and carports, then sends you to the county for the building permit.
Who can apply online as an owner
The county’s ePermits portal says resident access is for permits obtained by the property owner living in the home the permit is for, and that contractors must be registered with the county and in good standing to get an account. That tells you how the county thinks about owner permits: they are for people working on their own place. If a company building a $50,000 structure wants you to be the applicant, ask the permit office whether that is what they expect.
Buying local is not the same as buying safe
L&G’s office is on East Salisbury Street, a few minutes from the permit office. I was nearly a hundred miles from that office, and I doubt living next door would have changed much. What would have helped is what this whole site is about: a license number checked, payments tied to inspections, dates in the contract. See the checklist.
Before you sign with any metal building company in Randolph County
I am a customer, not a contractor. I signed a $98,750 contract with L&G Building & Concrete in February 2026 and, seven months later, have a cracked slab and half a frame. Everything I learned is on this site.
