LG Building & Concrete Review

When the metal building company is a hundred miles from your lot

Metal building companies sell across whole states. Counties inspect one at a time. The gap between those two facts is where my project fell.

Where this comes from

My project record

L&G’s office is on East Salisbury Street in Asheboro. My project is in Alexander County, roughly a hundred miles west, with a Hickory mailing address. The company advertises packages well beyond North Carolina. None of that is unusual in this industry, and none of it is a problem by itself. It does change what you need to check.

The seller will not know your county

A company working a multi-state territory cannot know that a Hickory address can be in four counties, that Mooresville split from Iredell permitting in 2023, or that Wilkes wants you at Environmental Health before anyone else. My order form said “Hickory, NC.” My permit is in Taylorsville. When the contract makes the permit your job, the seller’s unfamiliarity becomes your risk.

Crews travel, and travel decides the schedule

A crew based two hours away comes when it has a run of jobs in your direction. That is why “crews are still behind” arrives by text two days before your date. It is also why a one-week lift rental is the wrong unit: the week starts on your calendar and the crew arrives on theirs.

Coming back costs them more than it costs you

A punch list, a failed inspection or a damaged pipe is a four-hour round trip for a distant company. The incentive to come back is weaker, and the contract I signed has no date by which they must. The final-inspection correction clause is only as good as the crew’s willingness to drive.

Questions for a distant seller

  • Which office will permit my lot, by name? If they do not know, that is the answer.
  • Where is the crew based, and how many other jobs are on the same run?
  • If you miss the date, who pays for my equipment rental?
  • How many days after a failed inspection will a crew be back, in writing?
  • Who locally can I call: a foreman, a subcontractor, anyone within an hour?
  • Will you supply the lift so the schedule risk stays with you?

The alternative

Buy the building kit from whoever you like, and hire a licensed local general contractor or concrete contractor to do the foundation and, if possible, the erection. You lose the one-price convenience. You gain someone whose license, insurance and reputation live in your county.

Why a customer wrote this

In February 2026 I signed a $98,750 contract with L&G Building & Concrete of Asheboro, North Carolina. By September I had a cracked slab, damaged plumbing and half a steel frame. This site documents it, with the contract, photos, texts and public records. The resources exist so the next buyer does not need to learn the same things the same way.
